Dalmatia and Ancient Greece then French Battlegrounds

Well, I am off again and back to Venice for the second time this year.  I will be there on my own for a couple of days before boarding the Aegean Odyssey for another Voyages to Antiquity cruise.  I had so much fun on the one I took two years ago and have made some lifelong friends.  In fact, one of the couples just visited me here in Victoria for 10 days.  Another couple will be on the cruise so, unlike the last time, I will start off by at least knowing two other people.  The outline of the cruise is below.

While I have visited some of the places featured on this cruise (Urbino, Split, Dubrovnik) it is going to give me the opportunity to take excursions to places I haven't seen and also to have guided tours focussing on the history of the places.

Following the cruise and a day in Athens, I will be flying to Frankfurt where I will meet my sister.  We have planned a nearly three week road trip through Germany, Belgium and northern France which will most feature visits to WWI and WWII battleground sites.  It will also include time in the Rhine and Mosel valleys plus a trip to Reims where I am sure champagne will make its way into our adventure!

I am excited to see new parts of Greece, a country that I barely know and to visit Albania for the first time.  Hopefully along the way, I will learn lots of new things and meet some interesting people.  It will also be great to travel with my sister again.  It seems we are getting to do that annually now.  Mom would be so surprised to find that out!

So, I hope you will be interested to come along for the ride, so to speak. It will begin on September 16th when I arrive in Venice and finish on October 22nd when my sister and I will fly home from Frankfurt.  Of course, because cruises are notorious for having bad Internet connections, some of the initial posts may be sporadic but I promise to catch up whenever I can.

  1. This trip sounds wonderful. Back to Venice, I guess no masks this time. I'm looking forward to reading more. I see you stop at Hydra which, as you may know, is where Leonard Cohen bought a house almost 59 years ago to the day you will be there. Enjoy! Bx
